White basmati rice is an aromatic, nutty flavoured long grain. Apart from being non-fat, non-cholesterol and sodium-free, it is also an excellent source of thiamine, niacin, iron, riboflavin, vitamin D and calcium. Carbohydrates in the rice are broken down to glucose which then provides energy. White basmati rice is ideal for biryani and pulaos and it can also be used to make desserts like Kheer, Phirni and rice pudding.
