Black cardamom (kali elaichi) is mainly used in savory dishes such as tikkas, curries, soups, stews and biryanis. It cannot be used as a substitute for green cardamom because of its smoky, peppery flavour and aroma. Black cardamom may help in digestive and respiratory problems.
