Ajwain seeds come from the cumin family and look similar to cumin. They have a very thyme-like fragrance and are bitter and pungent in taste. It is mainly roasted or used as part of the tadka for dishes like dals, subzis, etc. Ajwain seeds are not only known for their culinary uses but also for their medicinal properties.
